Girl Named Tom, the first ever vocal group to win "The Voice" on NBC, has a sound built on the heartfelt voice of Bekah Grace and her two brothers’ beautiful sibling harmony. Their homegrown style combines the classics (Joni Mitchell; Crosby, Stills & Nash) with pop artists of today (Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Adrianne Lenker).

During their first year as a band, Bekah, Joshua & Caleb drove their old minivan cross country, playing 67 shows in 27 cities. The band's name is based on a childhood nickname! Joshua used to call Bekah "Thomas" when she was a baby.

Girl Named Tom is on a national tour in 2023. Fans from the Troubadour in LA to The Gramercy in NYC, to small towns throughout the Midwest have been blown away by the trio's artistry. Humans have been harnessing the power of the wind for thousands of years. The beauty and efficacy of that timeless and ingenious process inspired the creative team at Cirque Mechanics to create Zephyr, a theatrical circus show that harnesses human power, instead of wind, to generate an energetic acrobatic experience.

Cirque Mechanics has designed and built a performance windmill to serve as the multi-functional mechanical centerpiece of our story. Mounted on a turntable, the windmill combines both modern and older more picturesque elements – with the transformation from one aspect to another providing a change of scenery in real time.

About Cirque Mechanics

Cirque Mechanics was founded in 2004 by Boston native and German Wheel artist, Chris Lashua, after the success of a collaborative project with the Circus Center of San Francisco entitled Birdhouse Factory. Cirque Mechanics quickly established itself as a premiere American circus, with its unique approach to performance, inspiring storytelling, and innovative mechanical staging. Spectacle Magazine hailed it as “the greatest contribution to the American circus since Cirque du Soleil.”

Cirque Mechanics, although inspired by modern circus, finds its roots in the mechanical and its heart in the stories of American ingenuity. The shows, rooted in realism, display a raw quality, rarely found in modern circus, that makes their message timeless and relevant. The stories are wrapped in circus acrobatics, mechanical wonders, and a bit of clowning around. The troupe has created five extraordinary productions; Birdhouse Factory, Boomtown, Pedal Punk, 42FT- A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels, and, most recently, the wind-inspired Zephyr.

Each year, thousands of young women participate at the local, state and national levels, culminating in the selection of 51 Miss and Teen national finalists who compete for the titles of Miss America and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen. One of them could be you!

The Miss Program

Miss America is a not for profit organization dedicated to empowering young women to achieve their personal, professional and educational goals and is the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women.

By participating in the Miss America system, young women receive scholarship to help pay for higher education. They also receive opportunities to gain additional life experience, while working on important issues within their community, developing interpersonal communication skills and expressing themselves artistically through the talent phase of competition.

The road leading to the Miss America competition begins at the local level, in a community just like ours, with young women such as you. The organization stands for empowering young women across the country to be the best they can be through leadership, talent, communication skills and smarts.

The Teen Program

The Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization is focused on helping our nation’s youth build character and gain the skills necessary for success in the real world.
